The Wagner event of the year arrives in just a few days, as Lohengrin returns to the Met stage for the first time in 17 years, kicking off our spring season on Sunday, February 26, at 2PM. Fresh off his triumph in Giordano’s Fedora, tenor Piotr Becza?a sings the heroic title role, headlining a new production of Wagner’s soaring masterpiece by director François Girard, in a sequel to his extraordinary 2013 staging of Parsifal. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the podium to lead a remarkable cast, which also features sopranos Tamara Wilson and Elena Stikhina as the virtuous Elsa and soprano Christine Goerke as the malevolent sorceress Ortrud, alongside bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin, bass Günther Groissböck, and the mighty forces of the Met Orchestra and Chorus.
