WS Washington Alumni to sing roles in Das Rheingold
Dear Members and Friends,

This July, three alumni of the Wagner Society's American Wagner Project will perform lead roles in Das Rheingold at the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MBCMF).  There will be two performances at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach, on July 16 and 17.

--Eugene "Trey" Richards will sing Wotan.  He sang König Heinrich in Lohengrin and covered Wotan in Die Walküre at the MBCMF in 2018.  He has performed the title role in Der Fliegende Höllander, and covered the Wanderer in Siegfried at the Staatstheater in Kassel, Germany.
--Jon Janacek will sing Loge.  He sang Erik in the MBCMF's Der Fliegende Holländer in 2019.  He also performed selections from Lohengrin and Die Walküre in the 2019 AWP concert in Washington, DC.
--Geoffrey di Giorgio will sing Alberich.  In 2018-2019, he sang Kurwenal in Tristan und Isolde at the War Memorial Arts Center in San Francisco.  The music blog parterre.com said he was "as heroic as theTristan."

These outstanding young singers have been trained and coached by the internationally acclaimed Wagnerian soprano Luana DeVol, and by Dolora Zajick, world-renowned as a "true dramatic Verdi mezzo."  Ms. Zajick is the General Director of the Reno, Nevada-based Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, and Ms. DeVol is the Executive Director of the American Wagner Project, which is affiliated with IYDV.  The Miami Rheingold has received generous support from the Pohanka Family Foundation, whose founding chairman was the late John J.Pohanka, a longtime board member of WSWDC.
