News from the Wagner Society of Washington DC
Some interesting and varied activities have taken place in late 2017 and early 2018 in Washington DC, where the Wagner Society celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.
1. September: Piano Concert and Lecture by the renowned concert pianist, Jeffrey Swann.

2. October: Chairman Holman talked about Parsifal at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

3. October: Professor Charles Affron gave a lecture to WSWDC on "From Fremstad to Flagstad: Wagner at the Met."

4. October: Chairman Holman gave a lecture on Tannhauser.

5. November: WSWDC Co-sponsored a concert performance with the Georgetown University Orchestra of selections from Die Walkure and Parsifal. The tenor is part of WSWDC's singers program partnership with Dolora Zajick and Luana DeVol, the American Wagner Project.

6. December: Saul Lilienstein gave WSWDC a lecture on "Wagner on the Mind in Eastern Europe."

 7. January: The Wagner Society celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a Gala hosted by the Ambassador of Germany at this Residence. A tenor from the American Wagner Project sang, and the Wagner Award was presented to Maestro Philippe Auguin.

 8. February: Maestro Philippe Auguin gave a talk to WSWDC on Don Carlo.

 9. March: WSWDC/the American Wagner Project presented three young singers in a Concert and Reception hosted by the Ambassador of Switzerland at his Residence. 

 10. March: Chairman Holman gave a lecture to the Wagner Society of Palm Beach on "Wagner and Religion: Salvation and Redemption."

 11. May: Chairman Holman gave a lecture to the Wagner Society of America (Chicago) on Tannhauser.

12. May: Chairman Holman will give a lecture to WSWDC on "Wagner and Religion: Salvation and Redemption."

13. May: Concert pianist Jeffrey Swann gave a private concert at the home of an WSWDC Member.

14. June: Annual "Wagner in der Wildnis" three-day retreat on Tristan und Isolde.
