Richard Wagner Schriften (RSW)
Georg Högl, musicologist at the University of Würzburg, will introduce us to a fundamental project in Wagnerian research: the online publication of the Richard Wagner Schriften (Richard Wagner’s Writings). Wagner's prose writings will be made fully available online at wagner-schriften.de in a critical edition. While some texts have already been published, the final version of the project will be launched in the coming months. Georg Högl will present the objectives and significance of this important initiative by the Institute for Music Research at the University of Würzburg.
Georg Högl (*1988) studied musicology and music education at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, followed by further studies at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg and the Università degli Studi di Pavia. He completed his Master’s degree in 2015 with a thesis on the opera Elisa by Giovanni Simone Mayr. Since then, he has served as a research assistant on the Richard Wagner Schriften (Richard Wagner’s Writings) edition project at the Würzburg Institute for Music Research. In 2021, he earned his doctorate with a dissertation on "The Forest as Theme in Music and Music Writing of the 19th Century," published by Königshausen & Neumann.
The conference, which will be held in English, will take place on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 6 PM (CET), live on Zoom.
Participation is free of charge.
