Third Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition in Aalborg announced
The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition, now in its third year, will take place in Aalborg Denmark from 10 November (preliminary round) to the 18 November (Gala Final). Founded and chaired by the renowned Danish Wagner tenor Poul Elming, this event is aimed at young Wagner singers up to the age of 42.
Members of the panel for the semi finals and finals are:

Hans Gammeltoft Hansen, Chairman of the jury, Professor, Doctor of Law
Kasper Holten, Stage director, former. Artistic Director ROH Covent Garden and the Opera House, the Royal Theater
Siegfried Jerusalem, Opera Singer, Professor
Friedemann Layer, Conductor
Sven Müller, Artistic Director at The Royal Opera, Copenhagen
Andreas Schmidt, Opera Singer, Professor at Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Munich
Birgitta Svendén, Opera Singer, Opera and Theatre Intendant, Stockholm
Applications are now being invited from qualifying participants. The closing date for entries is 1 May 2017.

The competition will take place over several days, and comprises a preliminary round and a quarter final with piano accompaniment, and a semi-final and final with full orchestra.Members of the panel for the semi finals and finals are:
