Parsifal for the first time in Venezuela thanks to the "Wagner Association of Venezuela"
Since "Parsifal" has never been performed in Venezuela, the Wagner Society of Venezuela is convinced that it will be an extraordinary opportunity to let its music be heard in Caracas. We want to give the Venezuelan audience the chance to connect with this sublime work by presenting a generous selection from its Acts I and III in 2026. This year has immense Wagner significance, as it marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Bayreuth Festival. We will truly make history again!
We did not hesitate to propose the participation of the El Sistema National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela in this project, given the exceptionally high artistic and musical standards achieved by both the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and the Simón Bolívar National Choir. The involvement of musicians and choristers from these esteemed ensembles will not only guarantee the high level of an event of this magnitude but also provide them with an invaluable opportunity for artistic enrichment. Furthermore, it will strengthen the international reputation of 'El Sistema' as a leading institution in both the musical and social fields.
We are firmly convinced that these excerpts from "Parsifal" can be improved without leaving the concert format, through a minimalist production that is rich in symbolism. By using lighting and the interplay of music with photographic images (without traditional religious representations), commissioned by a Venezuelan artist, we can highlight the mythical core of Wagner's conception and lead the audience on an immersive journey into the depths of this masterpiece.
