José Pedro Serra, Licenciado em Filosofia pela FLUL, no mesmo ano em que terminou o 5º ano de Teologia na Universidade Católica, é Mestre em Literatura Grega e Doutor em Cultura Clássica pela Universidade de Lisboa, onde é Professor Catedrático no Departamento de Estudos Clássicos da Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa. Em 2006, publicou Pensar o Trágico (Lisboa, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, reeditada na Ed. Abysmo, 2018), obra a que foi atribuído o prémio do Pen Club 2007, na categoria de Ensaio e ainda o prémio Jacinto do Prado Coelho da Associação Portuguesa dos Críticos Literários. Além de artigos, publicou recentemente, em colaboração com Ricardo Gil Soeiro, George Steiner. Das Cinzas do Silêncio à Palavra de Fogo (Ed. Exclamação, 2018). Atualmente é Diretor da Biblioteca da Faculdade de Letras e coordena a linha de investigação sobre Matrizes Clássicas e Cultura Europeia no Centro de Estudos Clássicos.  José Pedro Serra é associado do Círculo Richard Wagner.

TRAGEDY AND THE WORK OF ART OF THE FUTURE

José Pedro Serra has a Degree in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), having completed at the same time the 5th year of Theology at the Catholic University in Lisbon. He is Master in Greek Literature and PhD in Classical Culture from the University of Lisbon, where he is Full Professor in the FLUL Department of Classical Studies. In 2006 he published Pensar o Trágico (Lisbon, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, re-edited 2018 by Ed. Abysmo) for which he was awarded the Prize Pen Club 2007, in the category of Essay, as well as the Award Jacinto do Prado Coelho from the Portuguese Association of Literary Critics. In addition to articles, he recently published, in collaboration with Ricardo Gil Soeiro, the work George Steiner. Das Cinzas do Silêncio à Palavra de Fogo (Ed. Exclamação, 2018). He is Director of the Library of FLUL and coordinates the line of research on Classical Tradition and European Culture in the Centre of Classical Studies. José Pedro Serra is a member of the Círculo Richard Wagner.

It is with great pleasure that we present our October/November conference and conversation cycle, running online on ZOOM.

We should first of all, like to thank the Speakers for the generosity with which they have accepted our invitation to speak at these meetings, this being especially precious in the difficult period of the pandemic we are going through.

You will find all the instructions for joining the sessions below; the link for each session will be sent to you by e-mail within 24 hours before the beginning of the meeting.

For each session, the link to access this "Meeting" will be sent by email within the previous 24 hours
Please note: a new and different link will be created for each session; always make sure you are opening the right email.
Important information
- Paulo Carmo, member of the board of the CRW, is the host; the sessions will be recorded.
- The total or partial recording of the session by the participants is not allowed. 
- All participants will have the sound disabled during the session to prevent background noise.
- When the speaker opens the session to questions from participants, he or she may:
   > ask a written question using "Chat", and/or,
   > "raise your hand" to speak by selecting the "one hand" icon and turning off the "Mute".
