Wagner Society New York - Wagner Organ Recital
Sept. 26, 2021 (Sunday), 4:00 pm.

Organ Recital: Music by Wagner transcribed for organ by Edwin H. Lemare. Patrick Allen, organist.

See www.wagnersocietyny.org for details and registrations.

This program is free to all. It is presented in memory of Harry L. Wagner (1932–2020), a Charter Member of the Wagner Society New York and Editor of Wagner Notes, by a generous donation from an anonymous member.

The free program includes: Prelude from Tannhäuser, Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, Prelude from Der fliegende Holländer, and Finale (Walhall Scene) from Das Rheingold.

These excerpts were transcribed by Edwin H. Lemare (1865-1934), one of the greatest organists of his era. They are notable for their emotion, dynamics, and color.

Patrick Allen is an organ and chamber music performer in the US and Europe. He has been organist and master of choristers at Grace Church since 2000 and is also organist at General Theological Seminary. The organ is the Bicentennial Organ, completed in 2013: a 77-stop, four manual mechanical action organ, built by Taylor and Boody Organbuilders

Advance reservations are required.  Live stream information will be emailed to registrants ahead of time.
