2026
Amsterdam

Dear Chairs,

From 19 to 22 February 2026, the Wagner Society of the Netherlands warmly welcomes you to Amsterdam for the International Richard Wagner Congress. Following the well-attended and inspiring Meeting of Delegates in Bayreuth (May 2025), this will be the first full congress since 2023 – featuring a rich and varied programme.

This edition will bring together delegates, members, and Wagner enthusiasts from all corners of the world in a city teeming with culture, history, and music – a city where Wagner’s spirit can resonate in a truly special way.

At the heart of the congress lies the Meeting of Delegates, during which key strategic and financial decisions will be made for the future of RWVI. Surrounding this core event, the Wagner Society of the Netherlands is organising an engaging and inspiring programme – a celebration of Wagner, of the Netherlands, and of meaningful encounters.

A true highlight will undoubtedly be the performance of Tristan und Isolde, directed by the recently deceased and internationally acclaimed Pierre Audi. This production – once again eagerly anticipated around the world – will be the centrepiece of a broader cultural and musical programme that also includes a mini-symposium, a scholarship holders’ concert, and several enriching excursions.

It promises to be a memorable congress weekend – one in which music, culture, substance, and connection come together. The Wagner Society of the Netherlands and the RWVI Presidium greatly look forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam!
